Quoted for truth. Thing is, Alesia uses Healing Hands. If you're a melee warrior, that means that she'll run in to the heaviest combat to heal you. And after she's used Healing Hands, she'll stay there.

And die.

Basically you *can't* tank well enough to protect Alesia, because she refuses to be protected. Your best bet, if you're a W/Mo, is to bring Protective Bond or Mending, and put it on HER. Healing Seed or Healing Breeze also helps sometimes, for a few seconds, if you see her taking damage.

This problem doesn't arise if you're a caster or ranger, as you wont be in the thick of things unless things are going wrong, so it's not a problem that Alesia is standing next to you.

The solution would be to take Healing Hands away from her, OR change the script so that she runs away after using it. But ANet's not done so yet, and probably wont.

Late in the game you'll get access to a protector monk, and after that you wont need to worry about Alesia any more.

The problem with Alesia is she uses Healing Touch (I'm sure that's what Numa meant, since Healing Hands is a ranged skill and wouldn't cause any trouble - Word of Healing is Alesia's choice for elite lateron) too eagerly. It's a fine skill that she should reserve for herself and the support, but she should not use it on the frontline people since it puts her adjacent to monsters and forces her to waste time running towards the frontline (and back again incase she survives and the support line gets attacked). The choice between a hard warrior and a squishy monk is simple enough even for brainless AI, but she usually tries to flee after taking a few hits. What happens however is that she considers the support line to be about ward distance behind you, and if you happen to be facing the rest of the support (through switching targets or whatever), she'll actually run even further instead of rejoining the rest of the support, which can cause her to aggro more monsters.

Claude and Orion suffer from the same problem, for the same reason - Claude will run in to use Blood Ritual (also a touch-range skill) on anyone low on energy, even if it's a warrior who has little need for energy in the first place. Orion will run in to Lava Font, then loafs around until he gets smacked silly.

And yet, they remain a hundred times more useful than Dunham, who besides using Imaginary Burden on stationary targets makes sure he always keeps his energy low by spamming Distortion.

Alesia is good at healing but most of the time, she like to arggo anything that get near you. She would usually run in circle around different enemies and start attacking them. Currently, (i guess her AI is fixed) she started to heal and res more and die lot less.

It's posible she may be out of mana, but every single fricking time?

I think the problem has more to do with an ill-conceived AI that just needs a bit of tweaking. A human monk would probably take the first opportunity go get some energy buildup and cast Rebirth or Res while the warrior is buying time. Even a W/Mo locked in combat can heal more frequently than Alesia, and that's with a low reserve of energy.

I've seen this countless times when running through Ascalon with my monk. Once I put retribution on Alesia, the monster AI would put her at the lowest of priorities, shifting their attention to less-soft targets.

Any enchantment should do, retribution works well at the low levels, mending is nice later.

If I could take Alesia instead of Mhenlo in the later missions, I would, as she will cast breeze.

The only thing I wish is that she carried a rez signet. I try to take as few henchmen as possible and if i sometimes (ahem) die and she is out energy she will fire away with her wand/staff and never rez once (or so it seems).

Something I also do since I play a W/Mo is keep an eye on Alesia and I also will throw vigorous spirit, and balthazar's aura on her, heh, they wanna beat on her fine and a healing breeze on her once in awhile keeps here alive nicely. I've made it all the way from Thunderhead Keep to Mineral Springs with henchies including Alesia and that's no easy trek by far, especially between the Citidel and Mineral Springs. Did fine, we died a couple of times, but, still made it to Mineral Springs and ended up with +10 morale before I had capped my skills I was after.

Maybe the intelligence is in the "human" player and not so much Alesia's fault. Maybe yah just need to try to figure out different strategies and tactics that will work for the character you are playing.

There is not much wrong with Alesia since an update sometime ago when they bought Lina to the desert.I find I have more problems with othe henchie castors than her.The worst is Dunham the Enchanter and Cluade is a close secound and Orion who dies more often than Alesia. The skills she has are really good for healing and she doesn't use healing hands unless on FireIsland but not in rest of the game.
The skills that she come with before update was orisons, heal other and restorelife now after the update she now has breeze,Orisons, heal other or healing touch and restorelife. She has some better skills then real player just coming down from Yaks she had better skills than I did at on time and i still don't have healing touch. If you want to complain about a henchie complian about Dunham and fix Claude I never use those two and look out for her if she is being attacked defend her like real player after reading this real Monk players might not want to play with you.Stefan and Thom could use some shouts possibly.

If you ask me, I think there are problems with all the henchmen, not just Alesia. It's just that Alesia's more noticeable since she's the most important henchman until you get Lina. However, the only problem I have with her is that she tends to run off in a different direction when she gets hit, which tends to stray her towards other enemy mobs.

And I figured I should share this comic since a good laugh's good for relieving some tension.

Yea, alesia always dies when I play warrior, but usually I manage to kill everything off just fine without her, but its still annoying that she won't run away from them. I've even forced stefan and thom into aggro range so that they would be attacked first, and htey just ignored them and went straight past me or whoever else to attack alesia.

However, I f I play my necro/monk, she never heals me :/
ran around for 15 seconds once with a quarter life praying for a heal and never got one. I think she might have been trying to use healing touch on me then, but its happened to often to count. I think its because she's jealous of my necro...

My ranger, on the other hand, never has problems. Its always Orion who gets the crap knocked out of him then while Alesia and I just get ignored. Wierdness.

I've never felt comfortable with Alesia. She's helpful sometimes, but she tends to be a liability more often than not. Once you get to use Lina though, she's not entirely worthless (mainly because Lina is there to help you save her ass.)

Lina > Alesia

Alesia is pretty worthless. Especially playing a melee character. She has no survival skills whatsoever and half the time doesnt heal a critical moments.

I think it would be a great idea if we could select the skill bar for the henchies we carry. Sure they would have the default set of skills for that area and level, but it sure would add an extra demension to the game, and allow for some interesting combonations of skills, for the monks this would be particularly true by taking the touch skills away at times.

You know selecting the skills on the skill bar sounds like a decent idea, I can see good benefits but the AI will need some tweaking to use skills more efficiently or rather intelligently. If its possible.
